I personally believe that its beneficial for New Zealands financial health, to place a Tax on investment properties. New Zealand as a country is "Fiscally Unbalanced". Therefore, the National government are doing the right thing to align property tax policies, with the like of Australia and Canada to stimulate more liquidity into the coffers, and to correct the property market. This will prevent so many investors from milking the system.

Although, this Tax law wont apply if you own a holiday house. So its not all doom and gloom. Ill continue to enjoy more ski holidays from my bach in Springfield Canterbury, and still reap the rewards of capital gains as the region develops.
